Creating Our Future
Providence, Rhode Island

The 110th Annual ECA Convention theme is “Creating Our Future.” The submission deadline is Monday, October 15, 2018 at midnight. The convention will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at Omni Providence Hotel on April 10-14, 2019.

The 110th Annual ECA Conference will be built around the idea of “Creating Our Future” through the management of resources emanating from our research and scholarly activities to transforms lives, communities, and organizations. The 2018 convention theme raises interrelated questions that invite philosophical reflection related to theory and application. With these issues in mind, this Call for Papers welcomes completed papers and panel sessions focusing on the intersections of the conference theme and philosophy of communication, such as: How can philosophies of communication help us to frame responses to present contexts that will come to shape our future? How can these philosophies of communication shape interactions within public life? The convention planners wish to highlight completed papers and panels that encourage consideration and audience engagement related to themes rooted in the philosophy of communication.

The convention, as always, features panels, round tables, short courses, and programming on the convention theme. Addition, the annual James C. McCroskey and Virginia P. Richmond Undergraduate Scholars Conference (USC) will run concurrently with the convention. USC papers will be accepted through December 17, 2014, to enable scholarly student papers from the fall semester to be submitted.

ECA will now be using Attendee Interactive to manage submissions and reviews. This is the same system used by the National Communication Association so you may be familiar with it. The deadline for submissions remains the same, October 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM. You will be prompted to create a new User ID and Password to submit your work. An email will be sent to the membership in the next couple of months to announce when Attendee Interactive will be open for submission. Additional information, including a link to the submission page, will be sent to ECA members on the day the submission website opens.
