Short Course 3: Teaching the Positive Communication Course

South County - 3rd Level

Positive communication represents a set of seven communication behaviors that facilitate relational development, maintenance, and growth. In this short course, participants will be introduced to the positive communication construct and the seven behaviors (greeting, asking, complimenting, disclosing, encouraging, listening, and inspiring) that comprise it. They then will be presented with ideas on how develop an undergraduate, upper-level Positive Communication course that embraces a student-centered, experiential learning orientation. Participants will receive a sample syllabus, teaching activities, and paper assignments intended to assist them in their own course development.
