ECA… calling once, calling twice

My ECA Colleagues,

As I begin the third week of classes, I am excitedly greeting both students and colleagues after a long summer as well as watching the stack of papers begin to pile up on my desk. I’m sure that many of you must also be watching the pile grow and even thinking about approaching deadlines. With ECA… you still have time!

The ECA deadline is Wednesday, October 15, 2014.

Throughout the day tomorrow, you will receive 2nd calls for submissions from each of the individual Interest Groups. If you are not a member of an Interest Group and, therefore, will not be emailed the specific call for that group, please go to our Call for Papers page and scroll down to your desired Interest Group. You will be directed to that IGs page with its Call, current news, and officer listing.

I would like to remind you that our 2015 Convention has a tremendous amount to offer both with and outside of the Interest Groups. Your work may find a home with or you may with to find more information about:

The Basic Course Conference (BCC15)
G.I.F.T.S. (which will be offering awards this year)
Short Courses
Advertising (mobile app, Graduate School Fair, printed program)
Special Events (virtual session attendance, NPR/FOX/Ivory Tower debate, Wine & Spots)

If you have never before helped a student to submit a paper, panel, or poster… this would be a good year to beam with pride for the student that blossoms under your tutelage.

Student Participation (USC, Posters, Student Ambassadors)

Of course, our ECA Philly 2015 Facebook page gives details about the session spaces, local restaurant recommendations, special event details, interactive advertisements via our mobile app program, and more.

I am always available to answer your questions (ecaphilly2015@gmail.com) – even with the papers mounting. It continues to be immensely gratifying to work with the members, my incredible team, and the Interest Group chairs. Watching collaborative sessions come together, learning about members being asked to consult with foreign governments on democratic deliberation processes, being approached by schools that want to volunteer their services, working with local media who will be attending some of our sessions…. I could go on and on. Convention planning is all about the details and this membership continues to help make those details exciting! Thank you.
