(Submissions should come in two attachments of full papers; one with a title page with full contact information and the second is the same document minus the identifying information on the title page – and with no identifying author, school, faculty, or contact information in the remainder of the paper; submissions format should be either .docx or .pdf)

Competitive Paper Presentations are similar to formal presentations where the authors explain their research in a 10 minute oral presentation. In this presentation format, 3 or 4 papers will be presented together containing a general theme that links the papers together. Furthermore, these presentations will be followed by a response from a top-scholar in the field of communication. Each presenter will be required to participate in an online presentation information session prior to the conference.

1) A title page with the following:

-       Title of the paper and the author(s)’ affiliations, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses. (NOTE: If paper has multiple authors, indicate the presenter with an asterisk.)

-       An indication on the title page that states "Debut" if author has NOT presented previously at a regional or national convention.

-       Please indicate your willingness to present your paper as a competitive paper presentation, a competitive poster presentation, or both.

-       Contact information for student(s)’ faculty sponsor(s).

-       THE SECOND PAPER WILL HAVE A TITLE PAGE BUT WITH NO AUTHOR OR FACULTY INFORMATION.

2) An abstract page (which will be the second page of both documents)

-       Include the title of your paper.

-       Include a single paragraph abstract (or brief summary) of the paper.

-       May include keywords.

-       Will have no inclusion of no identifying author, school, faculty, or contact information.

-       Include the below statement of professional responsibility:

In submitting the attached paper or proposal, I/We recognize that this submission is considered a professional responsibility. If this submission is accepted and programmed, I/We agree to register for the 2015 ECA Convention, pay fees, and present in Philadelphia. I/We understand that presenters with last minute emergencies must make arrangements as possible for an alternate presenter as well as communicate their absences to both the Interest Group Planner and ECA VP; no shows will be removed from the official program.

3) Your manuscript should:

-       Be no longer than a combined 20 pages excluding References but including Appendices

-       Adopt a professional manual style (such as APA, Chicago, or MLA) with informative category headings

-       Utilize any professional organization format with clear writing standards

Submitted files from students (not faculty) should be formatted in a .docx or .pdf format NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 19, 2014 by 11:59 EST.
