Assistant Professors in Television/Video Production

The Department of Communication Studies at State of New York College at Plattsburgh announces the openings for two 10-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professors in Television/Video Production effective fall 2017. The successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching, research and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. He or she will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.

Responsibilities Include: The successful candidates must be well qualified to teach courses in basic video production and digital video editing (including Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro) and have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators. Duties also include being an active scholar, advising students, and service to the department and university. Candidates may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.

Required Qualifications: An appropriate Master's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the areas of basic video production and digital video editing (including Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro). Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications: Additional teaching expertise in TV station operations, writing for radio/TV, sports broadcasting, TV studio production, or social media will be a plus. A record of scholarship and/or significant industry experience is considered advantageous.
