Full-time Non-tenure Communications Faculty Position

Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College invites applications for a teaching-track position beginning in the fall 2014 semester, or earlier. This is a career-oriented, full-time and renewable non-tenure appointment for teaching courses to students in a professional master’s program. The position teaches classes over a twelve-month period.

Candidates should have exceptional teaching skills and communications pedagogy as well as a strong background in professional writing and oral presentation for business and organizational results. The goal of our communication courses is to instill our graduate students with the ability to write and speak in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner that demonstrates an understanding of purpose, audience, and structure. Our classes focus on written and oral communication in professional settings.
Ideal candidates will have professional experience outside academia as well as proven skills in instruction and editing. Experience teaching both native and non-native speakers of English is desirable. Significant classroom time, grading & editing of assignments, and tutoring of students are required. A master’s degree in a relevant field is required.
