Lecturer in Public Communication

The University of Vermont (UVM) invites applicants for a lecturer position in the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) with expertise in Public Communication.

Qualified applicants must possess an M.S. or Ph.D. at the time of appointment, and a commitment to quality teaching and undergraduate advising. Applicants must have the desire to work in a transdisciplinary environment and meet the demands of a Research I university.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and advanced courses in applied communication with an emphasis on theory and practice, including Introduction to Public Communication, Consumers, Markets and Public Policy, and Public Communication Media. Additional expertise might include social marketing, web design, and strategic writing.

A willingness and ability to teach across our majors is desired and there may be opportunity to teach at the graduate level. The successful candidate will also advise undergraduate students.

Special consideration will be given to candidates with: 1) teaching, and/or professional experience in public communication applied to sustainable business or non-profit organizations and 2) practice in service learning and community development and 3) experience using new media technologies.
